Spring is finally in the air, and with the changing of the seasons come that time old tradition: Spring Cleaning!

While the thought of tidying up may not sound like the most enthralling activity, there are a few tips and tricks that you can use that will definitely save you time and energy.

Using common items you can find throughout the house, you can have a clean house without having to spend all day dusting and mopping.

1. Use Shaving Cream On Bathroom Mirrors
Put some shaving cream on your mirrors, and wipe with a cloth. The cream will not only remove any smears, but it will prevent your mirrors from fogging up every time you hop in the shower.

2. Use Cinnamon To Keep House Smelling Clean
Sprinkle some cinnamon on the ground, and then simply vacuum it up. While the spice doesn’t release any smells, it acts as an organic odor masking agent. Since it’s a natural substance, there are no negative side-effects!

3. Pour Baking Soda On Mattress To Deodorize
Pour baking soda all over your mattress, and leave it there for two to eight hours. Vacuum up the powder, and your mattress will be smelling almost as good as new.

4. Clean Toys In Dishwasher
Kids are messy, and so are their toys. For an easy way to sanitize their playthings, simply place their (non-electronic) plastic toys in the dishwasher, and they will be safe to play with! This definitely beats hand washing them.

5. Use Laundry Detergent To Clean More Than Clothes
You can clean a whole host of things outdoors with laundry detergent (as long as it doesn’t have bleach in it). Just put some in a bucket of water, or add it to a pressure washer, and use it on your wooden deck, or concrete.

6. Use Dishwasher Tablets To Clean Washing Machine
After a few months of use, put a dishwasher tablet in your empty washing machine, and run it for a cycle at 60 degrees. The tablets will kill any bacteria, and will get into the hidden parts of your washer for a deep clean.

7. Clean Stainless Steel With Olive Oil
Put some olive oil on a cloth, and use it to wipe down the stainless steel in your kitchen. The olive oil will remove all the streaks, and fingerprints. Wipe it down with a towel, and now your metal is nice and shiny!

8. Lint Roll The Lamp Shade
You know how your lamp shades seem to collect all of the dust in the air? Well, not anymore! Take a lint roller to those lamp shades, and watch the dust disappear! You won’t believe how simple it is.

9. Use Rubber Gloves To Clean Pet Hair
Pet hair is so small, but it’s often one of the most annoying things to clean. Here is an easy way that you can remove those pesky hairs! Simply put on some rubber gloves, and pat them on the surface with the hair!

10. Sponge + Microwave = Clean!
Simply put a wet sponge in a microwave, and turn it on for about a minute. This will kill all of that nasty bacteria that your sponges soak up.
