After several challenging years, the famous country music star Randy Travis has officially announced that he’s finally making a comeback.
Considered a pivotal figure in the history of country music. Since 1985, Randy Travis has recorded 20 studio albums and charted more than 50 singles on the Billboard– 16 of which were number-one hits.
But after a debilitating stroke in 2013 threatened to take his life, Travis struggled to pick up the pieces. Following his stroke, and despite physical therapy, Travis has been unable to sing or speak and has difficulty walking, having to rely on a cane — until now.
In an exclusive interview with FOX 4 last night, the formerly very private Randy Travis invited reporters into his home for a special announcement. Randy Travis finally shared the news that his adoring fans have been praying for several years: Randy Travis is making a comeback.
With his loyal wife, Mary Davis, by his side, Travis has survived through what many doctors considered a hopeless situation.
Mrs. Travis recalled the harrowing days that followed her husband’s devastating stroke in 2013, “He was in a coma at that point in time also. But I asked him, ‘Do you want to keep fighting? Give me some more fight if you have it.’ And he squeezed my hand and a little tear fell down and I knew then that he wasn’t ready to give up.”
Doctors feared that Travis would never walk or talk again– much less sing. But God has proved to disagree with their diagnosis.
Due to multiple life-saving procedures while he was hospitalized, doctors warned that Randy’s vocal chords were damaged beyond repair. But an examination six months ago showed that, miraculously, they were healed!
In October, Randy Travis was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and moved the the audience to tears when he surprised them with his first public performance of his favorite song; “Amazing Grace.”
And as Randy Travis’ powerful, God-given voice filled the room, there wasn’t a dry eye in the auditorium.
Although Travis is still on the road to recovery, his smile and laugh are just as contagious as ever– especially when he’s with his beloved horses.

A “Heroes & Friends Tribute to Randy Travis” concert will take place in Nashville on Feb. 8. Additionally, Randy and Mary have planned several special events to raise funds and awareness for research on heart and stroke issues.
“We’re not giving up. He’s tough as boot leather,” Mary said. “Sweet as a peach, tough as boot leather and as kind a man as you’d ever want to meet, inside and out.”
Praise God for his miraculous healing ways! We’re praying for you, Randy Travis! Your determination to fight for life is an inspiration to us all.
