A Lowe’s in Abilene, Texas is making headlines for its latest hiring of what has turned out to be a dynamic duo.
Clay Luthy, a former C-30 loadmaster in the Air Force and his dog, Charlotte, were hired to work together a short time ago. And it turns out, the two have been quite an outstanding pair.
Luthy, whose needed five surgeries over the years, can’t bend his knees, but fortunately Charlotte is always keeping a close eye on him. Although Charlotte wasn’t meant to be a service dog, she couldn’t help but look out for her loving owner.
“I got [Charlotte] as a puppy, and she was never supposed to be a service dog,” Luthy said in an interview with a local station. “I found out a couple years ago she was alerting me, and I didn’t even know it.”
Jay Fellers, human resources manager at the Lowe’s, says, “We went through the interview process, and Clay and his own merit won the job.” He added that “we knew he was gonna make a great employee— we just got the benefit of getting Charlotte right along with him.”
I wish I could take my dog to work!
