Politicians, and many in the media are fired up after Donald Trump issued an executive order calling for a temporary ban on travel from certain countries.
Several news outlets are calling this action a “Muslim Ban” as the seven countries in question all have majority muslim populations, but the fact of the matter is the word “muslim” isn’t mentioned once in the order.
In fact, the reason these countries were on a list in the first place is because the Obama administration listed them as dangerous. Of course, Barry O could do no wrong in the media’s eyes, and anyone who dared question him was labeled a “racist.”
The seven countries in question are: Syria, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Yemen, and Sudan. Of the top-10 Muslim countries in the world, only Iran cracks the list, but that won’t stop the media from running with a good headline. A “muslim ban” serves their agenda in trying to paint Donald Trump as a racist, but unfortunately it’s a phrase not rooted in fact.
With all of the reporting on “fake-news” it would seem appropriate for media outlets to raise their standards, but apparently that’s not happening. Instead, the media is doubling down their efforts to demonize the president, regardless of what the truth is.
The president issued a statement on his order, saying that president Obama had done something similar many years ago, but the media somehow forgets:
“My policy is similar to what President Obama did in 2011 when he banned visas for refugees from Iraq for six months. The seven countries named in the Executive Order are the same countries previously identified by the Obama administration as sources of terror. To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting.”
“This is not about religion – this is about terror and keeping our country safe. There are over 40 different countries worldwide that are majority Muslim that are not affected by this order. We will again be issuing visas to all countries once we are sure we have reviewed and implemented the most secure policies over the next 90 days.”
“I have tremendous feeling for the people involved in this horrific humanitarian crisis in Syria. My first priority will always be to protect and serve our country, but as President I will find ways to help all those who are suffering.”
Look folks, you have to understand that demonizing the president is a business. Some people are full of so much hate that they are willing to take any lie as their version of the truth. We have to be willing to look into things for ourselves, and not allow the media to spin things out of control.
While president Trump continues to fulfill his campaign promises, the liberal media, and those on the left will keep attacking him, regardless of his actions. I guess they aren’t used to a president who actually does what he says!
