Fireworks erupted on “The View” Thursday when co-host Joy Behar made a sarcastic joke at the expense of First Lady Melania Trump. The cheap shot infuriated Meghan McCain — and she let her fellow co-host know about it.
“Happy birthday, Melania,” Behar said sarcastically while discussing critical reports about President Donald Trump.
“Come on! That is so mean,” McCain interrupted.
“What was mean about it?” Behar said, playing innocent.
“You think that was appropriate? Yesterday, we all talked about how we collectively like Melania. So you’re making fun of her pain.”
Watch the contentious exchange below:
Behar responded by claiming McCain has “no sense of humor.”
“Oh, please. It’s not that I don’t have a sense of humor. It’s because I feel bad for our first lady,” McCain replied.
When the other co-hosts teamed up on her, McCain refused to back down and called on them to actually “be honest” about their bias.
“Then we should take back what we said yesterday. Because I thought yesterday that we all said we have a soft spot for her and we felt bad for her,” McCain shot back. “So we should just be honest.”
Behar again justified her “joke” by arguing Trump was the “target.”
Apparently, Melania was just collateral damage.
