Secretary of Defense is an immense privilege and undertaking.

Your job is to make sure that America is kept safe at all costs from outside forces, and nowadays even from domestic threats. This means America needs an extremely capable individual, and now that person is none other than legendary Marine Corps General “Mad Dog” Mattis.

His first full day on the job he got straight down to business. To no one’s surprise he started raining bombs on ISIS. He launched 31 separate strikes into parts of Iraq and Syria. The attacks were made up of a mixture of traditional bombers and drone strikes. ISIS suffered the biggest losses in their capital of Raqqa, where 22 strikes obliterated 12 tactical units.

Trump took a strong position on national defense citing, America First! He said that he would defend America strongly, to make up for how President Obama went around the world apologizing for America’s greatness. It seems like he definitely picked a man who shared his vision to lead that charge.

Mattis understand the global playing field and knows that defeating ISIS for good will take the help of our allies and friends,

“We must embrace our international alliances and security partnerships. History is clear: nations with strong allies thrive and those without them wither.”

Looks like America’s borders are finally in good hands.
