When I saw this DIY project, I instantly knew it would change the way millions of people live forever. This is GENIUS!

The internet is full of infinite DIY projects that blow our minds daily.

However, this DIY project with shipping containers is brilliant beyond words!

Instead of disposing 4 shipping containers from work, this construction worker got super creative and found a genius way to reuse them — and he’s totally giving Chip and Joanna Gaines, from HGTV’s Fixer Upper, a run for their money!

He transformed the bare shipping containers into a luxurious home — at a fraction of what most celebrities would spend for a paradise like this.

DID YOU KNOW: Shipping containers were the brainchild of Malcom McLean, an American trucking mogul. He believed that big savings could be had by packing goods in uniform containers that could easily be moved between lorry and ship. The system became known as “Containerization,” and it quickly conquered the world. When McLean tallied the costs from the inaugural journey of his first prototype container ship in 1956, he found that they came in at just $0.16 per ton to load — compared with $5.83 per ton for loose cargo on a standard ship. Between 1966 and 1983, the share of countries with container ports rose from about 1% to nearly 90%, coinciding with a take-off in global trade, according to The Economist.

When a homeowner saves money on expenses by using shipping containers, they have more money than usual to spend on luxurious home features like this home. The average shipping container home only costs around $30,000 to build.

Another shipping container homeowner, Matt Mooney, says the steel boxes are “..beautiful pieces of equipment. They were a really elegant solution to a difficult problem. It’s a common language for the world.” Mooney, a principal at the architecture firm Corgan, started thinking about building a house out of shipping containers 25 years ago.
