Jenna Bush Tears Up, Reveals How Grandfather George H.W. Is Doing After Wife’s Death

Jenna Bush Hager finally let the anxious public know how her grandfather, former President George H.W. Bush is doing after burying his beloved wife, Barbara, and his most recent hospitalization for a life-threatening infection.

“He’s doing well, he’s doing great,” she said Friday on NBC. “He’s goal-oriented and he wants to get to Maine, so we think he’s going to be going there. He’s sad, but he’s doing well.”

She then revealed that the last time she talked to her grandfather he was “eating barbecue,” which got a good laugh from the panel.

Jenna also said it was astonishing to see how much America loved her grandmother after she passed away. She said “the streets, the highways, were packed with people” as they drove from Barbara Bush’s funeral from Houston, Texas, to bury her in College Station.

“It was so touching for our family to feel that love,” she said.

Following his wife’s passing, Bush released this heartwarming statement:

“I always knew Barbara was the most beloved woman in the world, and in fact I used to tease her that I had a complex about that fact. But the truth is the outpouring of love and friendship directed at The Enforcer is lifting us all up. We have faith she is in heaven, and we know life will go on — as she would have it. So cross the Bushes off your worry list.”

Continued prayers for George H.W. Bush and his entire family.
