Man Takes Home 5 Abandoned Puppies, But Quickly Realizes He Made A Terrible Mistake

While a man was working on his neighborhood garden, he stumbled upon the cutest little creatures. Not realizing what he’d found, he soon discovered this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

For Craig Mcgettrick, one very unexpected opportunity all began while he was caring for  a local garden one day. While he was digging around and pulling weeds, he was shocked to find a few furry friends.

He gathered what looked like five very young puppies with no mother in sight. Craig posted a picture to social media for advice on what to do with the little babes. He wasn’t sure on how to care for them in their infant stage.

Craig and his friend Beccie took the pups to an animal shelter before he got a response back from the photo he posted.

The photo spread over social media, but the pups were gone. Tons of people commented on the photo and their response shocked Craig. They kindly clarified that the “puppies” were actually fox cubs.

With that information, Craig and Beccie reached out to the National Fox Welfare Society. There, they got in contact with Martin Hemmington, the founder.

Hemmington told them that the cubs were not left by their mother and should be returned to their place of discovery.

Hemmington fruther shared, “Vixens leave their cubs all the time whilst they are in the den, and as they get older they’ll begin to explore their surroundings more and more, and become less dependent on mum as they get older.”

The founder himself went to retrieve the cubs from the shelter and returned them to their home. He was sure not to feed them or overly care for them, so their mother could do her part.

The babies were hungry and crying for their mama, which Hemmington said is a good thing. When they cry, the mother will come running to their aid.

Hemmington put the cubs back in the garden right where they were found. He knew their mother would come to that spot looking for them. He stayed for a while to make sure the babies were found.

Thanks to the community on social media that helped get these cubs are back with their mommy.

Who would’ve thought that fox cubs could so closely resemble puppies. Please share this story if it brightened your day!
