When you’re expecting a baby, you’re expecting all of the good. The frustrations and pain and emotional rollercoaster of pregnancy can be easily subdued when you think of the joy a new baby will bring and planning for their future. But what happens when the completely unthinkable happens?
For Nathaniel Oliveri and his wife, Haley, their faith in God was stretched to unbelievable limits when Haley gave birth their daughter Gabriella. Nathaniel and his wife were Christians, but not your average run of the mill Christians. To most of the world they seem extreme, but in reality they simply take God at His word when it comes to what the Bible says.
One can live their lives in lip service to Christ or to God, but did you know there’s another level? If we trust God to save our souls and to one day raise our dead bodies out of the ground in the rapture, shouldn’t we take him just as seriously when it comes to everything else?
When Grabriella was born everything seemed perfect for the first thirty minutes, but then her heart rate increased and she developed a breathing problem. The medical staff quickly moved to get Gabriella sedated. As if things couldn’t get worse, Gabriella’s heart stopped.
Without knowing why she was being prepared, Haley relates that she had a desire to go through this delivery process with zero fear. Little did she know how pivotal this decision would be. Nathaniel, Haley, and their midwife held hands and engaged their hearts in prayer. Not out of fear, but from victory that God’s promises are true and whatever was going on was going to stop and reverse itself immediately.
The midwife thought that she was going to have to be the strong one in the prayer but when Nathaniel rebuked the “spirit of death,” she was taken aback at how strong his faith truly was.
All through this ordeal Nathanial and his wife were overcome with supernatural peace. This was truly the peace that passes all understanding, because the hospital staff thought they were crazy and in denial about the severity of the situation. But it was at this moment that Hailey had a vision of Jesus himself walking into the room where Gabriella was, and placing His hand on her chest. At that moment, after having been stopped for 4 minutes, her heart began beating again.
Repeatedly the doctors tried to sit down and reason with Nathanial about his daughter’s condition. Nathanial wasn’t delusional, he simply knew exactly who his Father in Heaven is. 2 Corinthians 5:7 says,
“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
This means, in every situation we find ourselves in we have the option of reacting one of two ways. Do we take the easy way out, and just accept what ever is happening? Or do we side in with God, and say what He says. If the Bible is the book we claim to live by, then we have to let it determine our reality. It’s easy to make up excuses or theology or doctrine that supports our experiences when they don’t line up with scripture, but there’s no power in that.
There is only power when our thoughts, words, and actions line up with God’s word.
We as Christians serve a God who lives in the realm of the impossible. When there’s an impossible situation, watch out, because that’s where God wants to show up. He only needs to be invited to get the party started.
Mark 9:23 “Anything is possible if a person believes.”
Nathaniel never spoke doubt, and only spoke from a place of crazy faith in declaring the goodness and miracle power of God to the doctors.
“Get ready to be astonished!”
Gabriella slept for 2 whole days, and then suddenly woke up in the evening, perfectly normal. Her collapsed lungs should have shown abnormalities, but there were no abnormalities to be detected. God had done a complete restorative miracle in her!
Did you know that God says that you can walk through this life with no fear?
Isaiah 4:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Were you stirred as you watched the testimony play out or read this account? That is faith and hope arising on the inside of you. The same God that answered Nathaniel and Hailey’s prayers is the same God that will meet you in your situation. He’s only waiting to be invited. What God did for one, he’ll do for another.
Acts 10:34 “…Truly I understand that God shows no partiality,”
God will meet you in your impossible situation today. You only need to invite Him in first.
