The accident occurred at around 11 p.m. in Orange County, California, when Ferrell was on his way home from a “Funny or Die” event near San Diego, where he appeared as his famous Ron Burgundy character.
It was reported that open beer bottles were seen at the scene of the crash, but police later confirmed alcohol and drugs did not play a role in the accident.
TMZ first reported the accident:
It’s unclear what injuries Will suffered … he was speaking on his phone as firefighters loaded up his stretcher to take him to the hospital. One witness said a woman in Will’s vehicle was more seriously injured, and was bleeding profusely on the scene.
Though the accident looked terrifying, Ferrell has been released from the hospital and is said to be in good condition. He managed to escape the crash without any serious injuries.
